Vesākha Festival (Wesak) Sunday 22 May

Amaravati WebmasterNews

This year, the public celebration of Vesākha pūjā, also known as ‘Buddha Day’ falls on Sunday 22 May.

On this auspicious day we will be celebrating the three key events in the Buddha’s life that are traditionally considered to have taken place on the full moon of May: his birth, awakening to full enlightenment under the bodhi tree at the age of thirty five, and his final passing away, parinibbana, aged eighty.

We will commence the celebration just after 10.00 a.m. The schedule for the day includes chanting, a rice pindabhat, meal offering and a Dhamma talk in the afternoon.

Everyone is very welcome to join us for this event.
